A camera has captured footage of a rare Potoo bird

On camera, a rare Potoo bird has been captured. This bird is typically found in Central and South America and is one of seven species of Potoo birds belonging to the Nyctibiidae family. With their large, circular heads, big eyes, and broad beaks, Potoos have a distinctive appearance. They are usually brown or gray with intricate streaks and spots that help them blend into their surroundings during the day. Potoos are insectivores that mainly feed on flying insects such as moths and beetles, catching them mid-air using their wide mouths.

Unlike other birds, they do not build nests, instead laying their eggs directly onto tree branches, displaying unusual breeding habits. Sadly, several Potoo species face extinction due to habitat loss and other factors. Nevertheless, conservation initiatives are being implemented to safeguard these unique and captivating birds.
